Workshop Information

There's lots of information on this site to help you to understand and to deal with bullies and the victims of bullying. I'm not holding information back which might help you create a school environment that is free from bullying, but your success requires a team effort.

Your students will have to be a part of the bullying prevention team, as well as school staff, parents and surrounding community members. Building that bullying prevention team is your major challenge. Many people don't understand what bullying is, or mistake it for assertiveness and competitiveness. Others think that bullying is a rite of passage, and a test of survivability. These beliefs are obstacles along the path to eliminating bullying, but they are obstacles that can be overcome with care. Don't give up.

Sometimes it's good to bring in an expert to assist this effort, especially someone who has worked through these issues at the school level, with students, staff and parents. That's where I can help.

These Workshops Would Be Helpful If . . .

  • A number of students have hit others more than once
  • Students taunt others with name calling either in person or on the web
  • Students ridicule each other and fight on or off campus
  • Some students are isolated, seeming to have few, or no friends
  • Cliques reserve areas of the campus for themselves
  • Students are rude or disrespectful to their teachers
  • Staff and community believe that the students are bad
  • Adults believe that students will remain rough because of the community
  • School administrators are constantly dealing with discipline problems
  • You understand that bullying is in a class of behaviors which obstruct learning
